MY ROLE

Lead UX Designer

OVERVIEW

Flights Plug is a new concept by FareDepot.com that utilizes a chatbot to allow users to book flights. I was commissioned to design the platform for web, tablet, mobile, and native app. To complete this project, I started by researching chatbot UIs and common practices. Using this information and the clients desire to have a “fun and conversational” chatbot, I started by taking the mobile-first approach by designing for mobile web. After a few feedback sessions and validations from the client, I translated these into tablet, web, and native designs. Additionally, I designed a new traditional flight booking flow to go along with the chatbot designs. The project, if developed, will be developed by the FareDepot.com team.

CHALLENGE

Users are accustomed to the traditional flight booking engines which ask the user to input the from and to destinations, travel dates, and number of passengers. FlightsPlug was trying to tap into a market that was willing to try a new method of flight booking and was exposed to and willing to jump on new trends. The key challenge of this project was to create a platform that focused on chatbot booking flow but also allowed users to seamlessly book through a more traditional funnel.

SOLUTION & IMPACT

This project is unique in the sense that I did not have many stipulations to adhere to. I was given the ability to implement whatever ideas I thought would enhance the user experience. The client was extremely happy and has committed to more projects for their brands. This project is still underway in the development phase.
