I’m not that interesting.

I’m a numbers and data geek turned designer. Currently, I’ve decided to take my talents to Ordergroove as their Director of Product Design. Prior to joining Ordergroove, I was leading UX at GoCanvas in Reston, VA. I also co-founded a design firm, Dewey Design Labs (yes, it is named after my dog!), to offer user-centered digital solutions for clients.

I’m a creative and result-oriented UX designer improving experiences small and large. My background in human development compels me to connect and understand what my users need and want in their solutions.

I am also a business-oriented UX designer. My background in finance, economics, and information technology has led me to truly understand what the client ultimately wants; ROI. I’ve worked with numerous clients in a number of industries and have learned all have one goal; maximizing ROI.

The “AHA!” Moment

You may be wondering, “how did you get into UX from finance?” I’ve always had a passion for using technology and design to improve everyday experiences but didn’t know it until my Aha! moment. My Aha! moment came when I reached out to a former manager asking to join the Citifinancial IT team as a Financial Analyst. He introduced me to a UX designer within the department and asked me to join the team as a UX designer because he saw that as a better fit. I was up for a challenge and accepted.

From day one, I realized this is what I had been looking for. I was unhappy working as a Financial Analyst but loved the time spent on my site projects and my startup, In Hand Realty. I was the Co-founder and Technology Strategist and absolutely loved it! I just had no idea that my passion was called “UX Design”. Within eight months of joining, I was promoted to co-lead a team of five UX designers. I had found my passion and was making the best of it.

Although I do not come from a traditional UX background, after years of classes, workshops, and self-taught methods, I credit my success to my diverse background. I truly enjoy creative problem solving.

Greatness inspires greatness, and Darsh leadership as a UX Manager is a perfect example of this. Darsh is the kind of leader who is invested in his people and cares about building them up and bringing out their best.
